Konyak Union Naginimora along with Naginimora Students Union (NSU) and KNSK held a protest rally on Monday against the cold-blooded massacre of 14 innocent civilians.
In a joint statement, KU unit president Khampei Konyak, secretary Shuao Konyak, NSU president Konang Angh and KNSK unit president Shikmeth Konyak said that the organisations also hoisted 14 black flags inside the 27 Assam Rifles camp, which they said “will stand to its ground until the Justice is delivered”.
They also said that the unions stood for repeal of AFSPA. They said that unless AFSPA was revoked, such incident was bound to occur again. They therefore, urged the government of India to seriously take note of it and revoke AFSPA once and for all.
Asserting that the civilians were deliberately targeted, they further condemned the insinuation of mainstream media for claiming that the killings were collateral damage.
They appealed to the State and Central governments to take immediate necessary action and demanded exemplary punishment against those involved in the barbaric act. The unions further extended condolences to the bereaved family.
