Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom inaugurated the Assistant Nursing Midwifery (ANM) School of Nursing Impur Christian Hospital (ICH), here on Monday.
Speaking at the programme as guest of honour, Pangnyu said the site itself was a Holy land of the Nagas where the seeds sowed and the message preached from Impur reached every nook and corner of the Naga Hills called Nagaland.
He dedicated the institution to the people of Impur and Ao in general signifying the Glory of God and the marvellous contributions of the missionaries to the Phom Nagas.
The minister said such initiation by a faith-based organisation was encouraging for both the government and other organisations, and lauded ABAM and Board of Trustees ICH for being examples.
Pangnyu said the policy of the department was to partner and collaborate in order to build a sustainable health.
In this regard, he urged upon the organisations to promote and attain a level of health that would permit them to lead a socially and economically productive life.
Taking to Twitter, the minister said ICH would share some ANM seats to the department and accordingly the department would select candidates to undergo the training.
For this, he informed that an MoU would be signed.
Meanwhile, chairman, Board of Trustees ICH Impur, Dr. Sashimeren Aier said that established in 1912, Impur Christian Hospital has been instrumental in the healing ministry.
The opening of the ANM School of Nursing he said, was another milestone in the history of ICH and was a dream come true.
Earlier, the institute was dedicated by ABAM executive secretary Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener.
The inaugural programme was also attended by minister for Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir and advisor for Department of Underdeveloped Area (DUDA), N. Bongkhao Konyak.
