Tikhir Women Association (TWA) on Monday became officially affiliated to the Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) during an affiliation programme held at DUDA guest house, here, on Monday.
Declaring the affiliation and welcoming TWA, ENWO president, A. Shamthai urged upon the seven sister associations to grow together with love for peace and development.
Shamthai also handed over the ENWO affiliation certificate to TWA president.
Urging upon the seven associations to stay united and support one another, ENWO founding member, W. Ngipmin Konyak said with the official affiliation of TWA, ENWO now had seven tribe units and therefore, the organisation must build the relationship stronger.
Meanwhile, TWA president, Y. Tushila Caroline said after 40 long years of struggle, the Tikhir tribe was officially recognised by the state government on January 28, 2022.
Caroline assured to extend all possible contributions for integration and growth of ENWO.
Reminding that the Tikhir tribe was just three months old, she urged the ENWO to lead their younger sister and walk hand in hand for the betterment and development of ENWO women.
She said that it was now time for women to advance along with men in decision making and urged upon all the members to work as a team.
In her brief address, ENWO Kohima unit president, B. Lemie also encouraged the units to be a strong support system for one another.
She pointed out that ENWO was the voice of the general women and now seven times stronger as an organisation.
In this regard, she said ENWO must speak and work together for the welfare and upliftment of women.
The programme was attended by founding members, advisors of ENWO and representatives of the six tribal unit members of ENWO.
