Kohima Special Court (POCSO) has convicted one Joseph Adivasi to 20 years imprisonment for raping his five-year-old stepdaughter on several occasion in 2019 in their home at Para Medical colony Kohima.
While pronouncing the judgment on May 2, 2022, the Special Judge, Y Longkumer, stated that the prosecution successfully proved the charge U/S 376(2)(3) IPC R/W Section 4 POCSO beyond reasonable doubt against Joseph Adivasi.
The accused was convicted U/S 376(2)(3) IPC R/W Section 4 POCSO.
In a press release, public prosecutor Kohima, T Marlemba said the case was registered at Woman Police Station and was investigated by UBSI Tsuponi Tsukru of Woman PS Kohima.
The Court further observed that considering the nature and gravity of the offence, the provision of the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958 will not be made applicable in this case.
