Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) to introduce Mathematics in Arts stream

Based on recommendation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for multi-disciplinary approach to education, Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has informed that Mathematics will be introduced as an elective subject in the higher secondary Arts stream from academic session 2022.
In a press release, NBSE chairman Asano Sekhose informed that the subject will be introduced in Class XI in 2022 and Class XII in 2023 academic session. In this regard, NBSE has informed all concerned higher secondary schools affiliated with the board that students of Arts stream can offer Mathematics as elective subject.
Interested institutions have also been informed to introduce Mathematics as a subject of study in their respective institutions and appoint qualified teachers to teach the subject. Further, as emphasised in NEP 2020, all higher secondary schools have been requested to introduce more subjects as given in the existing syllabus at higher secondary level so that students may be given more choice of subjects.
