Patkai Christian College (PCC), department of Geology on August 20 commemorated its silver jubilee at Bundrock Hall, PCC.
In a press release, PCC media cell informed that resource person for the programme was Joint Director (retd.), directorate of Geology and Mining, Dimapur, Dr. Chisoi, and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Chisoi, who served 32 years in the geology and mining department in Nagaland, shared his experiences in the field of geology as a scientist.
He said, “Education is the best human resource development and the teachers of the department fulfil that”, and encouraged and motivated students to be good geology scientists and to bring out studies on minerals in the state.
Meanwhile, department faculty, Dr. Rudhowhelie Peseyie shared briefly the history of the department. Dr. Peseyie shared how the department was first established in the year 1997 with just four students and one lecturer. He stated that back then, it was one of the smallest departments but over the years, it has grown to be one of, if not the biggest departments in the college.
PCC principal, Dr. Thefuvilie Pieru in his address shared a few words of encouragement whilst also appreciating and acknowledging the department for its performance over the past years. Pieru also exhorted students to explore their talents, grab opportunities, and continue to dream big.
Earlier, Dr. Kowete -U Sekhamo delivered the welcome address, PCC chaplain, Vichukho Ngukha said the invocation, and vote of thanks pronounced by Dr. T Devala Devi. Marking the occasion, M.Sc. final year students performed a special number.
