Under the ongoing “Swachh Jal Se Suraksha” (SJSS) campaign (October 2-January 26, 2023), District Water and Sanitisation Mission (DWSM) PHED Wokha division conducted a two-day hands-on training on Field Testing Kit (FTK) for grassroots level workers at three strategic locations under Sanis block, Wokha district on October 11 and 12.
According to a DIPR report, district chemist, Er. Aremo highlighted water quality issues and demonstrated on use of FTK.
FTK provided to the users covered the detection of 8 parameters (physical & chemical). H2S vials for detection of bacteriological contamination were also distributed to trainees.
The trainees were reminded of their responsibility to carry out surveillance duty as per the JJM guidelines.
District coordinator Chuba Longchar highlighted water-borne diseases, health effects and storage of drinking water.
The participants included village council members, WATSAN committee, Swachhagrahis, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and others.
