As an extension initiative to the 2022 annual conference of Nagaland College Principal Association (NCPA), a seminar on “employability through skill-based quality education in higher education” was held on December 9 at Japfü Christian College (JCC).
A press release by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) JCC informed that the programme was jointly organised by the IQAC, JCC and Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW).
In a keynote address, Nagaland University (NU) vice-chancellor, Professor Jagadish Kumar Patnaik addressed the practicality and inevitability of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the need to prepare in line with the demand of market and society.
Resource person, Fazil Ali College, Mokokchung, principal, Dr. I Wati Imchen in his paper, “Blending Naga Indigenous Knowledge in Higher Education”, envisioned incorporating and designing syllabus and courses based on Naga indigenous skills and knowledge- Naga values and norms, Naga cuisine, Naga dance and music, organic farming. He also stressed on the need of such designs to be cost effective.
Delivering the concluding remarks, department of higher education, additional director, Dr. Lily Sema congratulated the university for implementing the choice-based credit system and expressed hope for the academic bank of credits to be introduced soon. The seminar was followed by business session.
