Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has resolved to reiterate its appeal to the state government to “diligently put on priority list” the construction of the foothills road in the current financial year for NEC funding” in accordance to the NLA resolutions adopted on September 22, 2022, which was further reaffirmed at the 1st Assembly Session of the 14th NLA in March 2023.
In a press statement, NFHRCC convenor Supu Jamir, co-convenor Hokiye Yepthomi, general secretary W Lemba Chang and assistant general Secretary Chenithung Humtsoe stated that the resolution was adopted during the joint stakeholders meeting consisting of officials of PWD (R&B), foothills contractor firms, Dimapur-based tribal hohos and NFHRCC in Dimapur on May 13, 2023.
At the meeting, the house also resolved to undertake a joint inspection tour at the earliest from Niuland to Tizit. The joint team would consist of divisional EE, PWD (R&B), divisional contractors, the tribal bodies and the committee members. The tour team would ascertain the technical completion of the work and recommend performance-based release of the remaining bills, before the onset of the rainy season, NFHRCC stated.
Further, the meeting resolved to maintain the cohesiveness of NFHRCC and protect its sanctity as it was unanimously approved by the respective apex tribal hohos as a pressure group in 2013. Therefore, in the event of any individual or groups undermining the authenticity of the committee in any unrealistic manner, the NFHRCC said such individual or group would not be tolerated and appropriate correctional measures would be initiated against them.
