Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has demanded revocation of government order transferring teachers on attachment basis from Fazl Ali College (FAC) and Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE).
In a press release, OKM Limatongzuk Jamir and general secretary Sungkumjang Kichu expressed deep concern over the transfer of teachers, which they said would create acute shortage of manpower in the affected colleges. Stating that FAC and MCTE were “premier government colleges” in the district, the union said that majority of the students in the district availed their education from those two institutions.
OKM said transferring out teachers would “definitely disturb the well set higher education ecosystem in the district.”
The union affirmed that it would “leave no stone unturned” in its demand to revoke the transfer order of the teachers. OKM has, therefore, requested the responsible department to revocation the order immediately.
