State’s first women rehab center opened

In a significant milestone, Silas Care and Welfare Society has opened the first Women Rehabilitation Centre in the state on August 22. The center is situated at Sensolikum near Indisen futsal ground.


In a short dedicatory programme, director, Silas Care Centre, Arenla Amer, shed light on the purpose and vision of the Silas Women’s Rehabilitation Centre, while dedicatory prayer for the centre was offered by associate pastor, Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA), Rev Kika, who also shared insightful words of encouragement and exhorted the gathering.


Short speeches were also delivered by representatives of Indisen Village Council and Sensolikum Village Council, while inmates of Silas Care Centre performed a special number.


Earlier, the programme was chaired by Richang and Bible reading and invocation by counselor, Apong.
Meanwhile, speaking with administrator, Silas Care Centre, R Nuklu disclosed that the facility already housed a men’s rehabilitation section with approximately 45 residents receiving benefits from its services.


He also highlighted that the center had already extended its support to over 30 women, leading to the formal inauguration of the Women Rehabilitation Centre. The centre objective was to provide assistance to a larger number of women grappling with “Substance Use Disorder”.


He informed that the centre will be offering an array of essential services, including Detox, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Outreach Programmes, and Vocational Classes, etc.
