On the occasion of “World Post Day”, the office of the Postmaster General, NE-II Region Dimapur held a programme in Dimapur on Monday where four staffs from Nagaland Postal division were honoured for their outstanding performance and devotion to duty on Monday.
According to OSD to PMG, NE-II, Dimapur, K.Z. Dolf, the officials were Kekhriezetuo Solo, (Assistant Postmaster (Mails) Kohima HO), Y. K. Magar (Postman, Dimapur Bazar SO), Simon Zeliang (Postman, Chumukedima SO) and M. Khentsumew (Branch Post Master, Pungro BO)
Speaking on the occasion, the Postmaster General, NE- II Region, Som Kamei (IPoS) spoke on the various activities being lined-up for the National Postal Week 2023.
The department will observe “Vittiya Sashaktikaram Diwas” on October 10, a Dak Community Development Programme is being organized at Mokokchung with active participation of all stakeholders from Central, State and local government.
“Philately Day” on October 11, a national level letter writing competition on “Dhai Akhar” on the theme “Digital India for New India” will be held at Pfutsero. “Mails and Parcels Day” on October 12, a bulk customer meet with corporate customers, couriers service providers, Central & State government departments will be held in Kohima.
“Antyodaya Diwas” on October 13, a financial literacy campaign on Post Office Saving banks, Direct Benefit Transfer, Social Security Pensions, Jan Suraksha Scheme, Sukanya Smariddhi Accounts, AePS and other products and services of Department of Posts will be held in Dimapur MDG complex.
It may be mentioned that department of Posts celebrates “National Postal Week” every year, starting with “World Post Day” on October 9, the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874.
