The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Zunheboto, Mission Vatsalya, Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland observed the ‘Child Rights Week’ from November 14 to November 21.
According to a DIPR report, the DCPU conducted awareness and sensitization program at Satakha, Suruhoto and Zunheboto blocks on the roles and responsibilities of Village Level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC) and legal adoption. The week-long celebration highlighted the two Children Homes and one Observation Home in the district, emphasizing their roles in caring for children in need of protection and juvenile offenders. The DCPO also elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of VLCPC and apprised them to approach the competent authority viz. JJB, CWC, SJPU and DCPU as and when any case arises.
MON: District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Mon organised “Sensitization Program of Village Level Child Welfare and Protection Committee Member Secretaries” at Mon Town Council Hall on November 24. In a press statement by Vekhro Lasuh DCPU, Mon, the objective of the sensitization programme was to create awareness with the rural people so that the rural children could become the beneficiaries of the various schemes available for the development and child protection mechanism, that every child was not denied the rights entitled to them, and emphasised the role of such committees in creating awareness about child development and child safety at village level. The participants were Anganwadi workers and helpers who were designated as village level child welfare and protection committee member secretaries.
The programme was chaired by Ngepkhao Coordinator Child Helpline. Welcome address was delivered by Sevehu Chuzho DCPO Mon and Wanloi Konyak LCPO Mon as resource person. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Alem Konyak PO(IC) DCPU Mon followed by refreshment.
