To mark the massacre of 14 civilians by the 21 Para SF at Oting village on December 4, 2021, the Konyak Union (KU) observed “Black Day” at its Headquarters Office, Mon on December 5, 2023.

At the solemn programme, chaired by KU vice president Y. Chingwang Wangsa, speeches were delivered by KU president Tingthok Konyak, KNSK president Ponglem Konyak, and KSU vice president Yuwang.

The Konyak civil society organisations (CSOs) asserted that they had entrusted the justice system of the country to deliver fitting justice to the victims and hold the perpetrators accountable under the law.

However, CSOs lamented that the justice has been “delayed and unserved”. The CSOs emphasised that the wounds inflicted upon innocent Konyak brothers would remain unhealed.

Therefore, the Konyak CSOs have called upon the state government to demonstrate responsibility and accountability by actively pursuing the case for justice.
Further, the CSOs urged the central government to expedite the delivery of justice and “to wash away the blood stains on its hands.”

The CSOs affirmed that until justice was served befittingly against the perpetrators, the Konyak community would remain steadfast in its “pursuit of closure and accountability.”
