Naga Veterinary Students’ Union College of Veterinary Science (NVSUCV&S) Khanapara, Guwahati celebrated its golden jubilee on January 13 at LM Auditorium, Pan Bazar, Guwahati. A press release by NVSUCV&S Khanapara informed that secretary, transport department and director, census operation, Nagaland, Dr. Zasekuolie Chüsu, and vice principal and head of department of PTSR (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) Government Ayurvedic College, Guwahati, professor Dr. Yanbeni Humtsoe were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Dr. Zasekuolie, an alumnus of the college, recalled his college days and his association with the union as general secretary and president. He termed the veterinary profession as a noble profession as there were “no communication” with the patients.
He emphasised on the importance of three S i.e., Self-Determination, Self-Confidence and Self-Discipline to achieve something in life. He also deliberated on importance of good work and urged the people to do away with “isms” and remain united.
Dr. Humtsoe, the first Naga woman ayurvedic doctor, advised the students to feel free their approach their teachers for any doubts or help. She also commended on the advancements made in the veterinary profession.
The resource persons were Nagaland Veterinarians’ Association (NVA) president and deputy director, department of animal husbandry and veterinary services, Dr. K N Zubemo Humtsoe, assistant professor, department of veterinary medicine, ethics and jurisprudence, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, AAU, Dr. Bendangla Changkija, and director and owner, Wagging Tails, Veterinary Clinic and Pet Shop, Dimapur, Dr. Ithika C. Swu.
The program was chaired by Thungchanbeni Patton; Sumi Christian Fellowship, Guwahati Pastor Kughaho K. Chishi invoked God’s blessings; welcome address by NVSUCV&S ex-president, Dziesevi Clement Vizo; a special prayer for the union was said by Naga Christian Fellowship, Guwahati associate Pastor, Dimo Kez.
Nine of the outgoing students were felicitated by the chief guest; greetings were delivered the Naga Students Union, Guwahati and Naga Medical Students Association, Guwahati; special songs were presented by Dr Netalü Puro and NVSU; secretary report was delivered by NVSUCV&S general secretary, Visazo Mepfhü-o; vote of thanks by NVSUCV&S vice president, Akumnungla, and benediction by Ao Baptist Church, Guwahati associate pastor youth, Lanuakum Aier.
