Wokha has potential to produce organic tea

Wokha district due to its climatic condition has a huge potential to produce good quality organic tea and coffee, said deputy director and branch head Institute of Packaging Kolkata, Bidhan Das. However, Das highlighted that the sellers lack in marketing ideas despite organic tea having higher market value. He suggested the need for proper packaging to attract more buyers.


Das also imparted on the principles of packaging and enhancement of a product to the trainees and thanked the Tea Board for funding the training programme. Das was speaking at the three-day training programme-cum-workshop on packaging of tea was organized by Shishoi Oshom- Entrepreneurship Task Force (ETF), Cell Wokha in collaboration with Tea Board India and Institute of Packaging Kolkata at Likya Community Hall on January 29.


Earlier, delivering opening remarks, Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan extended gratitude to packaging institute of Kolkata for organizing the training. He advised the trainees to cooperate with the team and encouraged the trainees to build good networking for their business by getting in touch with all the collaborators.


He further said that the district require a deeper and more complex trainings not just in the field of tea packaging but for other products.
Importance of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship was delivered by the Skill development and entrepreneurship incharge and and Project Manager Shishoi Oshom- ETF, Cell Wokja Anuranjan Singh and the vote of thanks by faculty of Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata centre Dr Asitava Sur.
