A book titled “Okhen Motsü-2, authored by Mhonyamo Yanthan, was released at Fernbrook School, Wokha, on February 3. The book is a compilation of 100 stories revealing the narratives behind popular hymns in the Lotha Churches hymn book.
Pastor Tsungiki Baptist Church, Mhao Kikon dedicated the book and emphasized on the crucial significance of understanding the stories behind the hymns in Lotha hymnals.
He also highlighted on the need for knowledge and expressed hope that people acquire a copy of the book and delve into its contents. He also maintained that “Okhen Motsü-2″ offers captivating insights into the historical context of well-known Church Hymnals.
Addressing the gathered audience, the author, Mhonyamo Yanthan, explained that the book aims to retell the stories of how the hymns were written and their relevance in the present context. Yanthan pointed out that often hymns were sung without an understanding of their original context, resulting in shallow and less significant singing experiences.
He shared his association with Church choirs inspired the creation of the book, and realized singing could be enhanced if singers understood the stories behind the hymns. With the launching of the book, he expressed the hope that readers will not merely read and sing but will gain an in-depth understanding of the hymns, making the book a valuable resource for personal devotions, Church, and others.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Kiluma Kikon, invocation by Nzanbemo Ezung, special song by Konthunglo Ngullie and benediction by Zuthungo Ngullie.
