Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) has “provisionally suspended” the indefinite agitation with immediate effect. In a notification, YAA speaker N Lemchimong Thongleh and assembly secretary TS Wongtong said that the decision was made following a letter from the principal director School Education dated February 7, wherein the department “assured its commitment to redress the shortages of teachers in schools across the Yimkhiung jurisdiction.”
Reposing trust and confidence in the department that it would deploy the teachers timely as communicated, YAA said that the indefinite agitation has been provisionally suspended and all restrictions enforced during the period have been lifted. However, it cautioned that the indefinite agitation would be resumed in a rigorous manner, if the department failed to address the grievances timely.
