
Terming Department of Treasuries & Accounts (DoT&A) as the “main organ” of the state government that administer and enforce the financial rules and regulations, T&A principal director, R.N Yanthan asked the officials of the department to play proactive role to uphold fiscal discipline.
According to a DIPR report, Yanthan was addressing the 16th general conference of Nagaland Finance & Accounts Service Association (NF&ASA) which got underway Friday at the Conference Hall of Directorate of T&A, Kohima.
The principal director called on the Officers to play proactive role to uphold fiscal discipline in the directorates, district treasuries and sub-treasuries and in the audits of all the departments and other institutions.
Yanthan said the civil deposit system and the accounting management have to be addressed urgently so that there should be no double entry on expenditures accounting head.
He emphasised on the need for proper records documentation from the office of accountant general while dealing with the case of service book, pay slip and pension of the state government employees. Yanthan said the annual gathering of NF&ASA should be a celebration of collective achievement of service matter and also in the department activities by upholding fiscal discipline.
In his address, NF&ASA president, Vechiso Chakhesang informed that association was established in 1978, initially by constituting a committee and the department was functioning directly under the finance department.
He acknowledged the pioneers and senior officers who had immensely contributed and made selfless and sincere efforts towards the establishment and growth of the department and association.
Chakhesang said the department which came into existence in the year 1980 has today a cadre strength of 207 members in the association. He requested the authority in the finance department and in the directorate to bring out comprehensive training programs so that the members are trained in different topics from time to time to keep updated on the new system. The programme was chaired by NF&ASA vice president, T. Khekaho Aye while vote of thanks was delivered by director treasuries and accounts, Vahine Thisa.
