Acting on a tip off from local informers on the presence of hunters at Intanki National Park near Pellhang Village, a team of Intanki Protection Force on March 9 apprehended three parties who were hunting and picnicking near Intanki National Park.
According to Assistant Conservator of Forests, Intanki National Park, the accused of the first party were Temjenwati son of N. Aliba, and Imkongyapang Agem, son of Wati Agem, both from Chungtia Village, resident of Dimapur, were caught with one .22 rifle and two air guns and river fishes in their possession. The second party included Papa Pauangchame, son of Hanglwa, and Isape Taime, son of Lungheuneing, from New Beisumpui village, were apprehended with two bore guns and fishing nets.
The third party identified as Seizabao Singsit son of Ngohthang, and Lamminlen Singsong son of Lalkam, of Pellhang village, apprehended with two bore guns and some wild birds in their possession. The release informed that a criminal proceeding was initiated against the accused as per Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
It was informed that the highest degree of protection to wild animals was accorded in the National Park and entering itself into National park without permission was a grave offence.
It further informed that under Sec-51 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, killing of Schedule-I and Part-II of Schedule-II, as a non-compoundable and non-bailable offence and imprisonment for 3 years which may go upto 7 years, with fine of Rs.10,000/- or both.
