Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has lauded the “smart and rapid action” of Dimapur police under the efficient command of Commissioner of Police, Kevithuto Sophie in nabbing the extortionists involved in demanding/collecting money from businessmen in Dimapur.
In a press release, NCD president Etsungmomo Kikon and general secretary LK. Peter Anal asserted that as long as the Naga political issue remains unresolved, the issue of multiple taxation by Naga political groups and multiple demands/extortion by individuals or impersonators would continue in Dimapur.
NCD appealed to all sections of communities, particularly business communities, to be vigilant at all times and be spontaneous in reporting any forceful coercive money demand/extortion/collection by any individuals/groups to the law enforcing agencies for immediate action, so as to maintain law and order in Dimapur.
NCD asserted that the integrity and sanctity of all Dimapur based civil society organisations was to uphold peace and harmony amongst Naga communities, non-Naga communities, business communities and student communities at all times.
It cautioned that any individual or group indulging in anti-social activities to destabilize or disturb the peaceful social environment of Dimapur would face strong negative reactions and condemnations from all section. NCD once again appealed to all Naga political groups to control their cadres from extorting or any form of “collections/charitable donations” from businessmen or business establishments in Dimapur.
