As part of its academic and extracurricular activities, educational institutions across the state organised various programmes and activities.
DBC Kohima: In a concerted effort to instil the importance of democratic participation and civic responsibility among its student body, the department of political science, Don Bosco College (DBC), Kohima organised its 2nd departmental activity empowering students through voter education under the theme, “Your Vote, Your Voice” on March 16. DBC said the campaign aimed to educate and engage students on the significance of exercising their right to vote in shaping the future of their nation.
SJC (A) Jakhama: The students of counselling psychology St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama conducted one day program on “Child Counselling” with the Children of St. John Bosco School at Khonoma on March 16. The two sessions witnessed child counselling practical and cultural programme which enabled the children in expressing themselves well verbally and emotionally.
In a separate event, the department of English SJC (A) celebrated its 9th Theatre Day on March 16 at the College Indoor Stadium under the theme, “Amore e tragedia”.
JCC Kigwema: Japfü Christian College, Kigwema, Kohima, department of sociology in collaboration with JCC IQAC & JCC NSS organised the myriad cultures entitled, “The Melting Pot” on March 16. During the event, the students showcased Naga folk songs, folk dances, skits and items from other cultures.
SCHE: The Eco Club of Salesian College of Higher Education extended its “green hand service” to Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar on March 16 by conducting a cleanliness drive at the park.
PCC: The department of mass communication Patkai Christian College (PCC) launched the 3rd edition of its photography exhibition under the theme, “all that meets our gaze” on March 15 at the UGC pathway of the New Campus. The exhibition inaugurated by PCC principal, Dr. Thepfüvilie Pierü, showcased 27 photographs exhibited by the 2nd year mass communication students.
FAC: As a part of the curriculum under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), the department of political science, Fazl Ali College (FAC) in partnership with Clark Centre for Peace Research and Action (CCPRA), Clark Theological College, Aolijen, Mokokchung organised an interactive case study analysis on March 14. FAC said the Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) students of semester IV through role play negotiated on, “Community policing and conflict resolution, dispute over environmental conservation and interfaith dialogue and understanding”.
JNAC: J.N. Aier College, Diphupar organised “Blyth Fiesta” on March 12-14 on the theme, “Celebrating our Tradition”, wherein various literary cum art, cultural dances and traditional games were competed among the eight guardianships of the college. JNAC said the event aimed to foster creativity, teamwork and a positive learning environment among the students.
IC: A one-day 3D Printing (3DP) workshop for education was organised in Immanuel College by Assam Electronic Development Corporation Limited on March 13 with Ira Bhatia, team lead at DIC UIET, Panjab University, and Karan Chadha, Consultant Industry 4.0 for North Eastern Region as the resource persons. The college stated that the project also aimed to reduce the need out of pocket expenses, reduce inconveniences while accessing services, and to promote ease of living and ease of doing businesses.
ICFAI: ICFAI University Nagaland screened “India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat” on March 13 at its auditorium. The event covered the laying of foundation stones of three semiconductor projects by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in the country.
SET NU: School of Engineering & Technology (SET), Dimapur and the Department of Physics at Nagaland University, headquartered in Lumami, organised a live streaming event on March 13, 2024. The event, titled “India’s Techade-Chips for Viksit Bharat,” featuring an address by the Prime Minister of India. Approximately 250 students from the university witnessed the Prime Minister’s speech on semiconductor technology.
