Police arrest one for ‘hate speech’

A joint team of Nagaland police and Delhi police arrested a YouTuber by the name Jonah Rangkau for allegedly posting videos targeting individuals and groups by making derogatory remarks.


The arrest was made following an FIR lodged at Peren P.S on March 4, 2024. Based on the FIR, it was learnt that a team of Nagaland police proceeded to Delhi on March 12. The matter was brought before joint commissioner of police (SPUNER) Delhi and accordingly the police team began to trace the accused Jonah Rangkau. The accused was arrested on March 13 evening from Parliament Street, New Delhi.


The accused was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House Court on March 14 for obtaining transit remand and thereafter NOC/Permit was also obtained from the BCAS, New Delhi to bring the accused to Dimapur on March 15. Accordingly, the accused was produced before the chief judicial magistrate Peren on March 16 and remanded to seven days police custody for further investigation.
