In view of the preparation for the Lok Sabha election, the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima has ordered enforcement of traffic regulations in Kohima on April 18 & 19, 2024 to ensure the smooth passage of the vehicles carrying polling teams and security personnel.

In an official order, DC Kohima Kumar Ramnikant stated that around 700 polling team vehicles would arrive at DC office complex on April 18 & 19, 2024 for collection/deposition of the poll material. DC office Kohima has been designated as the dispatch and receiving centre of polling materials and EVMs/VVPATs.
As per the traffic regulation, the area starting from Razhu Point Junction via Old NST and via D-Block till TCP gate would be “No Parking Zone”. The area starting from Y junction till DC office exit route would also be “No Parking Zone”.

Northern bound vehicles would be diverted from TCP gate towards NHAK junction, Naga bazaar, and census point Tinpatti.
DC stated that the measure has been necessitated due to the shifting of the location for stationing of the Election Duty vehicle from the local ground to the IG stadium.
DC has, therefore, appealed to the citizens of Kohima town to comply with the directive and cooperate with the stopgap arrangement for the successful conduct of the general election to Lok Sabha, 2024.
