NLA Speaker Sharingain elected as chairman of CPA

Sharingain Longkumer felicitated after being elected as chairman of CPA.

Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker, Sharingain Longkumer has been elected as the chairman of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region Zone III and president, NERIPSTR.


In a press release, NLA secretary incharge, Khruohituonuo Rio informed that Sharingain name was proposed by speaker of Sikkim Arun Kumar Upreti and seconded by speaker of Tripura Biswa Bandhu Sen at the joint meeting of the Executive Committee, CPA, India region, Zone III, and the Executive Council, NERIPSTR held in the New Assembly Building of Assam Legislative Assembly, Guwahati on May 10. The meeting was also attended by both speaker and deputy speaker of NLA.


Meanwhile, Khruohituonuo informed that handing and taking over the charge was concluded through a brief statement from the new chairman and president, where he extended gratitude for the support and opportunity to serve the association. Sharingain also reflected on the milestones achieved under the leadership of the outgoing chairman, Pasang D Sona, speaker of Arunachal Pradesh. It was also informed that secretary, NLA will also be taking the charge as secretary, CPA India Region Zone III.
