The Assam Rifles (AR) has denied the recent allegation of the NSCN (Khango) that 43 AR personnel raided its secretary, kilo (home affairs), terming these as unfounded and misleading. IGAR (North), Kohima, PRO in a press release asserted that the statement against the AR was totally baseless and unfounded.

He reaffirmed the paramilitary force’s commitment to carrying out its duties lawfully and ethically, adding that the force remained steadfast in its commitment to execute its mandate within legal frameworks.

PRO clarified that on receipt of credible intelligence inputs of presence of large number of armed cadres on the intervening night of June 2 and 3, a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) operation was established on road Block V Junction-Thillixu.

During this operation, he claimed that an individual attempted to evade inspection and fled from the scene. However, he was intercepted for his suspicious behaviour. According to him, the search operations were conducted in strict accordance with established protocols.

As upon questioning the individual had identified himself to be a member of the faction and home secretary of the NSCN (K), the PRO said the AR personnel followed all procedures and released the individual following laid down protocols.
