The Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Nagaland, has facilitated the participation of several distinguished individuals from the state in the upcoming 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) to be held from June 15 to June 21.
Among them are five selected representatives from various film and related fields, including Chiam Shiu, Kikru Neikha, Supongnukshi Pongener, Jackto Wotsa, and Thejanguzo Titus Pienyü. These delegates will showcase Nagaland’s talent at MIFF, supported by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
Chiam Shiu is a student currently pursuing Applied Acting from Dr Bhupen Hazarika Regional Govt. Film and Television Institute in Assam. Kikru Neikha from Kohima is an actor, model and content creator. Supongnukshi Pongener is a cinematographer from Dimapur. Jackto Wotsa, is an audio engineer for R&N (Reckless Films and New Life Studio), also the mixing engineer for MusikA, Dimapur. Thejanguzo Titus Pienyü, has worked with India TV as video journalist and co-founder of StillFilms Production.
Additionally, independent documentary filmmaker Yapangnaro Longkumer has been invited to participate in the first-ever Docu-Film Bazaar, a three-day event from June 16 to 18, designed to give filmmakers a chance to connect with industry experts, get invaluable feedback on their project, find international and national buyers and propel their films onto the global stage.
Longkumer, who has directed numerous documentaries for Films Division, Mumbai, currently serving as President of the Film Association of Nagaland (FAN), will present her work and explore new opportunities in the global film market.
Through these initiatives, DIPR underscores its commitment to promoting and nurturing Nagaland’s film community, providing them with significant exposure and networking opportunities on both national and international platforms. These efforts aim to further elevate the creative contributions of Nagaland’s filmmakers and strengthen their presence in the global film industry. (DIPR)
