Commissionerate Police Dimapur has implemented the action plan for air pollution prevention in Dimapur city for the FY-2023-24 under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) initiatives.
In a press release, the commissioner of police informed that various activities were taken up on a wide scale in accordance to the NCAP plan.
CP said that enforcement and awareness drives were undertaken to check vehicular emissions creating air pollution through checking pollution under control certificate (PUCC); pamphlets on “Together for Clean Air” in English and Nagamese were distributed widely to the public; NCAP hoarding display boards installed at traffic islands located around Dimapur and ‘Do Not Burn Waste’ display boards erected at public places where wastes are randomly burnt.
CP said that the initiatives were taken up in an endeavour to create awareness especially in regard to vehicle generated pollution. More than 70% of the air pollution across the global is caused by the motor vehicles on a daily basis. Motor vehicles remain a major source of air pollutants especially where there is more traffic.
CP said the initiatives were undertaken with the aim to encourage the citizens of Dimapur to make conscious effort and contribute towards improving the air they breathe.
