Assam Rifles engage

Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR-North) conducted various community services across the state.


Niuland/Old Thewati village: Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Toshiho village, Niuland on July 21. Approximately 400 villagers including children and elderly villagers availed medical checkup at the camp. According to IGAR (N), the medial camp was aimed at helping the locals by providing them with a medical checkup and distributing prescribed medicines.


Assam Rifles also organized a medical camp in Old Thewati village on July 20. A team of a doctor and medical staff from Assam Rifles ensured that quality healthcare was accessible to all attendees. The camp also included awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare, aiming to educate the community about maintaining good health practices. The initiative saw an overwhelming response, with a total of 75 residents availing the services.


Plantation drive: In line with the weeklong tree plantation drive commenced by Eastern Command, Assam Rifles initiated the drive in the remote Indo-Myanmar border Kiphire, district. The initiative was aimed to enhance environmental sustainability and foster a sense of ecological responsibility among the local community. On the first day, Assam Rifles personnel and local civilians planted 105 saplings, including a mix of local species and fruit-bearing trees sourced from the region.


Assam Rifles also organized a tree plantation drive at the IGAR (North) Headquarters in Kohima on July 20. The event, led by Major General Manish Kumar, SM, along with Sector Commanders, aimed to raise awareness among troops about the critical importance of trees and environmental conservation. The drive was part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to foster ecological sustainability and contribute to a healthier environment.

Mon: Assam Rifles coordinated with Junior Red Cross conducted a cleanliness drive at Mon town Helipad in Mon district. The collaborative effort aimed at improving hygienic conditions and sanitation of the infrastructure to mitigate potential health risks. The initiative witnessed participation from both Assam Rifles personnel and the youths of Mon town.


Pungro: Assam Rifles commemorated “International Chess Day” with the students of Saramati Mountain School of Pungro village. The event aimed to foster mental agility, and intellectual growth among the young minds. Friendly matches were organized, allowing students to apply their new skills in a fun and engaging environment.
