Kohima DPDB enhance VAS scheme

Members of Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) at its monthly meeting held on July 24, have decided to enhance the Village Adoption Scheme (VAS) funding, Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per constituency under LADP Common Pool.


The board also scrutinized and approved proposals under LADP for fiscal year 2024-25.
This was stated in a DIPR report. The meeting was chaired by vice- chairman, Kumar Ramnikant and attended by chairman, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso.


At the meeting, School Education department presented detailed power point on their activities in Kohima, while DEO Kohima informed that there were 121 government and 97 private schools in the district. She also informed on the successful distribution of free textbooks and school uniforms, and reported no nil results in HSLC exam for the past two years. She however emphasized the need for improvement in government schools.


The DEO also discussed implementation of PM-POSHAN, development of digital infrastructure, and various activities conducted in government schools, including Science, Maths, and Environment exhibitions, Social and Emotional Learning for Teachers, sports activities, self-defense classes for girls, vocational education, special needs education, Performance Incentives Grant, and the Nagaland Education Project- the Lighthouse project (NECTAR).


Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department demonstrated water testing procedures to check water quality and distributed testing kits to the members. The report further informed that agenda items included presentations from Mountain Trail Society and All Nagaland State Carrom Association, both based in Daklane Colony, Kohima. Following their reports, the board agreed to recommend registration of both societies.
