Nine former BJP, NDPP and NPP leaders from Phek join Cong

In a boost to the Congress in Nagaland, the party officially welcomed nine leaders from Phek district to the party at a function held at Congress Bhavan, Kohima on August 1. They were previously affiliated with the BJP, NDPP, and NPP.


M. Domeh, representing the group, highlighted their trust in Congress to address the ongoing Naga political issue. During the event, Lok Sabha MP and NPCC president S Supongmeren Jamir spoke about the state’s transition to an opposition-free government vis-à-vis resolution to the Naga political issue.

He warned against stifling dissent in a democratic setup and urged all Nagas to unite, speak up collectively, and advocate for their rights. He reaffirmed the Congress party’s dedication to finding a prompt solution to the political challenges facing the state. Supongmeren also criticized the Central government for misleading the Nagas with hollow promises.
