Tsungremmong celebrated with fervour in Mokokchung

One of the premiere festivals of the Ao Nagas, “Tsungremmong”, was celebrated with boom and gaiety at Yimtsungta Arpk Sapang, Ungma, organized by Soyim Shisaluyimer Telongjem (Soyim Students’ Union) on Thursday, with executive engineer, PWD (Mechanical), Mokokchung Division, Er. S Imsapang Imsong as the chief guest.


Er. S Imsapang Imsong in his speech said that Tsungremmong is celebrated every year, beseeching God for a bumper harvest. In the same way, he urged upon the young minds to beseech God for a successful and grateful life. At the same time, the guest appealed upon the students to dedicate their whole in their studies with the noble virtues of hard work, determination and honesty, willing a little to achieve in life.


Earlier, a children dancing troupe entertained the audience with a cultural dance ‘Kongshir Yar’ and Tsungremmong festival songs by the past members of Soyim Students’ Union (SSU) and Watemdong Cultural Club, which was followed by celebratory games & sports, such as top spinning, bamboo splitting, traditional fire making, Tug of War, etc.


The festival begun with invocation said by Pastor, UBA. T Wait Longkumer, welcome note was delivered by SSU president, Rongsen T Imsong while vote of thanks was proposed by SSU cultural secretary, Kikasangla Longkumer.
