Nagaland: A save haven, not for public

150 years ago before Christianity, People of Nagaland were once proud warriors killing rivals for territorial expansions, but with the acceptance of Christianity, people agreed to forego violence and started to live in peace and harmony preaching love and kindness following the path of Jesus Christ.
Everything about Nagaland was perfect until people started succumbing to greed and luxuries through political kickbacks and other means. Considering the lawless state after the statehood, many people/group mend ways to enjoy luxury and the best was through illegal taxation via easiest route. Taxation and extortion is still ravaging the ethos of Naga society since there is no or less efficient law to curb with it.
Even after 60 years of Statehood and billions and billions of money pumped in from Delhi, Nagaland state is still century behind as most places still lacks basic amenities in today’s modern world due to misgovernance and misappropriation by legal government and illegal taxation by illegal governments. Nagaland as a state is the safest haven for extortionist and illegal taxation. People of Nagaland should come to the point that the 1951 Plebiscite was a consensus and people consented considering the sacrifices, motive and clarity of the NNC towards Sovereignty. It is also to be noted that back then people of Nagaland voluntarily donated in cash and kinds during the early stages of struggle for sovereignty and the donation drive was mostly voluntary backed by emotions so as to procure logistics needed to stand guard against anyone adverse to Naga Nation.
Alas! Sovereignty is vanishing in thin air and is no more willful donation but illegal taxation and forceful extortion. People of Nagaland are aware that donations meant for Sovereignty mostly ended up sponsoring lavish lifestyles of Socialist propagators yet Capitalist in practical.
Sovereignty is now a distant dream and some blood thirsty people/group are onto killing own citizen for money producing demand note with bullet and the recent ‘death threat’ to one of our respectable hard working citizen of Nagaland by the so-called freedom fighter makes the motive crystal.
These extortionist and illegal tax imposters live happily in their mansion while working class people and general public of Nagaland are unsafe. As per the factional trend in Nagaland, they are now more into financial Sovereignty than Territorial Sovereignty. Nagaland is witnessing rampant taxation and the constitutionally legal government has miserably failed to maintain law and order or got no balls to act. With this trend and Nagaland government turning blind eye to atrocities, these gun toting Mafias will one day diktat daily lives.
In the meantime, factional in-fighting and breakaways resulting in popping up of new factions diminishes the core aim for Sovereignty and with so many new factions claiming legitimacy, taxation increases burdening the people of Nagaland. In fact, today’s freedom fighters are forming factions like colony gangs with same activities to impose tax for protection and business security.
It is an undeniable fact that early nationalist leaders sacrificed and endured undue sufferings and require for honorable retirement life like any other profession but one should not be contented to luxuries as the Naga cause is still not yet fulfilled as promised.
Lastly, in the name of Nationalism and Sovereignty, Nagaland and its people should not always be made an easy target and the time is ripe for government of the day to act against, to make Nagaland a Just and Save place for You and For Me.
