In the wake of the recent assault incident at Zunheboto involving its cadres and the subsequent public outcry, the NSCN (R) has constituted a five-member inquiry committee to get into the bottom of the case.
Informing this in a press note, NSCN (R) MIP said that the committee would conduct a free, fair and impartial probe, without any prejudice and submits its findings to the collective leaders within a period of 15 days.
This was decided at an emergency meeting led by its president Y Wangtin Naga and ato kilonser P Tikhak on Saturday. The meeting, chaired by kilo kilonser Kavishe Zhimomi, condemned violence in any manner, name, style and form and stressed that it was against the basic principles of the NSCN/GPRN (R).
Asserting that violence in any manner was unacceptable, the meeting underlined that the Naga society needed more healing, unity and brotherhood at this crucial time, assuring that NSCN/GPRN (R) would do everything within its capacity to achieve it and stop such violence from repetition.
Meanwhile, NSCN/GPRN (R) leaders urged the Nagas, residents of Zunheboto in particular, to remain calm and have faith in the inquiry committee. They assured that all necessary and disciplinary action would be initiated as per the findings of the reports.
