
Auto Gallery FC Dimapur emerged as the champion of the 2nd Autumn Cup 2024, an open football tournament for 35+, after defeating the Kuki Golgnai FC on Friday at Medziphema local ground. The tournament was organized by the Chumoukedima Football Referee Board.
In a sunny afternoon, the final witnessed a good game of football with both teams fighting for midfield control with sharp passes and fast paced game. The first half saw tough challenges and attacks from both side with no goals.
A breakthrough came in the second half when substitute Chuba Temjen of Auto Gallery was bought down in the danger zone. A brilliant finish from Chuba Temjen gave the lead to Auto Gallery in the 53rd minute.
The game was sealed when Chuba Temjen broke the offside trap of Kuki Golgnai FC and rattled the net again in the 60th minute. The Kuki Golgnai FC missed to convert in the final minute of match when three forward were found wanting of tapping the ball into the opponent’s net.
Earlier in the afternoon, vice president Kohima District Football Association & general secretary, Angami Youth Organization Neidilhoutuo Neibu Sechü, graced the final as the guest of honor.
Appreciating the role of CDFRB for organizing a platform for 35+ players, he encouraged the board to continue safeguarding the beautiful game. He also shared his concerns for the state sports scenario, which is yet to produce any Olympian since Dr. T. Ao and Chekrovolu. “Sincerity and dedication in any discipline is a must to achieve ones goal and dream”, he added.
