25-year-old Ruopfuzhano Whiso, achieved remarkable recognition by securing the fourth position in the Miss Universe India 2024 pageant, marking a historic debut for Nagaland in this prestigious competition.
The grand finale took place on September 22, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where Rhea Singha emerged as the winner of the Miss Universe India 2024 title.
This event was significant for Nagaland, as it marks the state’s first instance of reaching the Top 5 and securing a place in the competition. Ruopfuzhano Whiso hails from Khonoma, Nagaland and actively shared her journey on social media leading up to the grand finale, providing followers with insight into her experiences and preparations.
The event was hosted by Lance Raymundo and Ngo Ngoc Gia Han, featuring a distinguished judging panel that included Nikhil Anand, actress and former beauty queen Urvashi Rautela, Vietnamese star Nguyen Quynh, fashion photographer Rian Fernandes, and entrepreneur Rajeev Shrivastava.
The Miss Universe India 2024 competition also featured online contests for special titles, including ‘Miss Popular’ and ‘Best in National Costume – People’s Choice,’ which generated significant excitement throughout the Northeast region.
Whiso took to social media and shared about her custom stating “My Costume carries a lot of time and effort put in by every hand that touched it. The costume with its countless traditional beads meticulously handsewn into the outfit, every detail, bead, feather, color, tassels and accessories depict the bravery, resilience and strength of the Nagas since time immemorial.” “The Rhodendron Flower with its gorgeous red petals is the state flower of Nagaland and it’s a symbol of unity and resilience of my people.” she added.
