Nagaland bagged 12 medals (5 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze) at the just concluded XI North East Zone Shooting Championship 2024 organized by the Aries Rifle and Pistol Shooting Academy, Khelo India Centre, Dimapur at Aries Sports Complex Shooting Ranges, Bamunpukhuri-I from September 25 to October 1, 2024.
A total of 369 shooters, 245 men and 124 women from the six north eastern states—Assam (144), Arunachal Pradesh (4), Manipur (73), Meghalaya (52), Mizoram (28), Nagaland (37), Assam Rifle Marksmanship Unit –25 and Army Marksmanship Unit- 6—participated in the championship, which was conducted by the Nagaland Rifle Association under the aegis of National Rifle Association of India.
In a press release, Aries Rifle and Pistol Shooting Academy president Merang Jamir informed that Assam was adjudged the overall champion with 31 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze followed by Manipur with 14 gold, 18 silver and 19 bronze; Mizoram 11 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze; Meghalaya 6 gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze;
