A herd of around 40 wild elephants have been creating havoc in Ralan area reportedly since the past one week causing damages to plantations/paddy crops and properties.

According to Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) chairman, C.S. Ovung and joint secretary, Longshithung Patton, the situation has immensely affected the daily course of the villagers.
They claimed that they have been witnessing the presence of wild elephants every year but no preventive measures have been implemented by the concern department.

Therefore, RALH said if the situation persists or concern authorities take up some measures at the earliest, they will be compelled to take up their own course of action to control the situation as harvesting of paddy is approaching. In this regard, the RALH has appealed to the Chief Warden, Wildlife Conservation to take up the matter on priority basis.
