The orientation programme for second batch students selected to undergo coaching and sponsored by Yopikyu Thongtsar Memorial Trust (YTMT) was held on October 5 at 2K Hotel in Officers’ Hill, Kohima.
In a press release YTMT coordinator Akhumse informed that at the event, chairman, YTMT, OSD, Rural Development Theose Thongtsar welcomed the students by emphasizing the importance of hard work and determination for success in competitive exams.
He said YTMT sponsored 40 students for the first batch and 53 students (9 technical and 44 general) for the second batch. In his keynote address, trustee and joint secretary, Works and Housing Department, Selichum Thongtsar highlighted the establishment of YTMT, in memory of his father, late Yopikyu, a pioneering educationist from the Sangtam community.
He emphasized that YTMT motive was to uphold his father legacy by providing opportunities to students from Kiphire district, particularly those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Since then, the trust has initiated coaching programs to help those students to compete on equal footing with others in the state. It also encouraged them to be self-reliant and committed to their goals.
SDO of PWD(H) Industries & Commerce, Er. Shadrak and from Vega Coaching Institute, nformed that the institute has young and well qualified faculty and assured to guide, mentor and help the aspirants achieve their dreams.
Therlii Ovung, proprietor of Intensive Coaching and Computer Institute, Kohima, said that the institute was a government registered institute, and has produced numerous successful candidates and would continue to give their best.
Atoka Z Awomi, human resource manager of Prep School for civil services, said that the institute provides affordable fee structure and has accomplished great results.
Sethrichumla Sangtam, spoke on behalf of the students, thanked the Trust for their sponsorship and congratulated the selected aspirants.
