State chief secretary J Alam has urged all the departments to register in the biometric attendance system and also reminded the head of departments (HoDs) to strictly monitor the attendance at the directorate and district offices.
According to DIPR report, the chief secretary made this appal at a meeting of all the administrative head of departments and head of departments (AHoDs/HODs) held at Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima on October 15, 2024. The chief secretary, who chaired the meeting, remarked that various complaints have been received on the poor attendance of head of office at the district offices.
Alam said that all the head of offices should be in station and proper intimation has to be made to HoDs if they were on leave or out of station for some official work.
Reminding the head of office to be in their respective assigned station all the time, the chief secretary said that all government employees were ultimately paid by the government to provide services to the people.
Further, he requested all the HoDs to send out circular to their respective head of office at the district level to strictly monitor the attendance.
The chief secretary also encouraged other departments to install the attendance App currently being used by the directorate of youth resources & sports which allows the department to monitor the staffs’ attendance effectively.
Hornbill Festival 2024 celebration will be bigger: The chief secretary stated that the Hornbill Festival 2024 would be celebrated on a bigger scale compared to the past years as this year marks the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival.
Alam expressed hope that with all the assistance from the allied departments all ongoing reconstruction and renovation work at Kisama would be completed on time.
Before the commencement of Hornbill Festival, Alam said that there would be two statewide mass social work on October 21 and in the third week of November.
The chief secretary has, therefore, requested the line departments such as PHE, PWD and Police to extend their maximum assistance in providing manpower and vehicles etc for the social work.
He informed that mass social work would be a statewide activity with the active participation of all government departments and the involvement of public.
Complete projects on time: Expressing concern over departmental projects being delayed, the chief secretary has urged all the concerned departments to take up every departmental project seriously and complete each project within the stipulated time.
Reminding all the stakeholders on the Finance Commission (FC)’s visit to Nagaland from November 2-4, 2024, the chief secretary said that FC recommendations were very crucial for Nagaland. Therefore, he requested all departments to extend their maximum support in all possible way.
CS also urged all the AHODs and HODs to be in station during their visit.
Emphasising on the importance of capacity building and training for the senior level officers, Alam said that there was no age for learning. He, therefore, encouraged all the officers to enrol in upcoming training programmes and also to keep themselves updated with the rules of executive business.
The chief secretary further highlighted on issues relating to court cases of various departments. He reminded the concerned departments of the upcoming PRAGATI meeting on October 30, 2024. The members also share their suggestions and feedbacks during the meeting.
