Dimapur Police successfully busted an inter-state gang involved in drugging and vehicle snatching, arresting eight individuals from Assam, Manipur, and West Bengal. The operation also led to the recovery of two stolen vehicles.
In a press note, Commissioner of Police Dimapur said that the initial investigation began with a routine missing person FIR lodged at East Police Station. This led to uncovering a well-organized network of criminals operating across Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, and West Bengal.
The modus operandi of the gang involved posing as prospective clients to hire inter-state commercial vehicles, befriending the drivers, and drugging them through laced food items. Once the drivers were unconscious, the gang would steal the vehicles.
Police identified the mastermind as Shymalendu Roy from West Bengal, who orchestrated the crimes through his network. Using digital evidence and technical surveillance, police arrested two members from Manipur, four from Assam, and two from Dimapur.
The investigation was led by ASI Ikato Sema under the supervision of ACP East, Imkongsangba Jamir.
In this regard, commercial vehicle drivers and owners have been cautioned to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or missing vehicles to the police immediately.
