A major fire that broke out around 10 a.m. on Monday at Unity village in Chümoukedima district, completely gutted 10 houses, while three others were partially affected.
However, there was no report of any casualty in the incident.
Though the cause of the fire and the extent of property damage were yet to be determined, fire officials said that investigations were underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Sharing details of the incident, Chümoukedima Fire Station sub-inspector Noklangsangba Mollier said that firefighters responded swiftly to the situation with three fire tenders from Chümoukedima and two from the Central Fire Station being pressed into service.
He said it took approximately 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
