Goldfinch Club, New Reserve emerged as the champion of the 8th Kohima Lotha Hoho Inter-Colony Fathers’ Football Tournament after defeating United FAM 3-1 in the final on October 30 at IG Stadium Kohima.
The champion was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 along with trophy and certificate while the United FAM, runner-up walked away with Rs. 15, 000 along with trophy and certificate. The two semi-losing finalists team also received a cash prize of Rs. 5000 each.
In the individual prizes category, Thungchibemo Kikon, (Goldfinch Club, New Reserve) was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament; Best goal keeper- Benthungo Tungoe (Goldfinch Club, New Reserve); Best Defender- Shibemo Khuvung (United FAM); Highest goal scorer- Lithungbemo Kikon (Goldfinch Club New Reserve) with a total of 9 goals.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, chairman Kohima Lotha Hoho, K. N. Mhonthung Lotha applauded all the 11 teams for their participations and displaying the game with the spirit of sportsmanship.
He further expressed that the objective of the tournament was to strengthen the bond of friendships, stay healthy and encouragement for the youngsters.
Earlier, during the exhibition matches, Kohima Lotha Officers’ football team defeated the Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) by 5-2 goals while Inter-denominational Women Department defeated the Kohima Lotha Eloe Ekhung (KLEE) by 2 goals to nil. The 8th edition of annual inter colony Father’s Football Tournament was organised by Kohima Lotha Hoho.
