A Naga youth, in his early twenties and reportedly a BTh. final year student, was found dead in Walford area, Dimapur on Sunday morning.
According to police sources, the identity of the deceased was confirmed through an ID card found along with other personal belongings near the body. Police sources stated that local residents discovered the body wrapped in a blanket and notified authorities, who received the report at around 9:40 a.m.
After securing the deceased’s identification documents and personal items found at the scene, the body was taken to Dimapur District Hospital (DHD) for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. After the examination, the body was handed over to the family.
Authorities noted that the exact cause would be determined upon completion of the post-mortem and receipt of the report.
Since the body was found wrapped in a blanket, police have reportedly filed a “suspected murder” case to rule out any possibility of foul play, and an investigation is currently underway. As of the time this report was filed, the results of the post-mortem examination were still pending.
WSYF: Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has expressed pain and condemned the brutal murder of bright and promising BTh final year student Noghuvi K Sumi, son of late Khetovi Sumi, on Saturday. WSYF president Atokiho Sumi in a press release said the loss of the young individual had left a void in his family, community, and academic circle that could never be filled.
WSYF mentioned that the heinous act of taking a young life and subsequently disposing of the body on road side at Northern Angami Colony, Walford in Dimapur had left everyone in shock and mourning, adding that it reflected a profound disregard for the sanctity of human life.
WSYF termed the loss of Noghuvi as not just a tragedy for his family and friends, but for all who believed in the value of life and safety of the community, stressing that brutal acts of violence could not and must not go unpunished.
WSYF appealed the law enforcement agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, assuring WSYF’s full cooperation and willingness to mobilise resources and network with the law enforcement agencies to provide any information that might assist the efforts.
Emphasising that it was imperative that a sense of security and trust was restored among the youth and student community, ensuring that they could pursue their education without fear, the front declared that this act of violence could not go unanswered, demanding justice must be served. WSYF expressed condolences to the bereaved family, and demanded accountability for this heinous crime.
KATK: Kulolau Aghünato Tokukujomi Küqhakulu (KATK)– Western Aghünato Area People’s Union, has expressed profound shock and pain over the tragic death of Noghuvi Achumi, son of late Khetovi Achumi from Shevishe village, and resident of Aghunato town.
In a press note, KATK chairman Hukavi T Yeputhomi said that Noghuvi, a final-year Bachelor of Theology (B. Th.) student at Integrated Mission Seminary in Khushiabill, Dimapur, was reportedly found dead under suspicious circumstances.
According to KATK, Noghuvi, who was on a weekend outing on Saturday, had been staying with his elder brother at Veterinary Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur. His mobile phone was turned off in the afternoon, raising concern among his family members, KATK. His body was tragically discovered on Sunday morning, wrapped in blankets in Walford area near Bethesda School.
The family has since filed an FIR, and a post-mortem examination has been conducted. KATK emphasized that the organization is determined to pursue justice until those responsible for this heinous act are apprehended and punished. KATK urged the law enforcement agencies to ensure justice for the innocent departed soul.
