The closing ceremony of the 1st Dr. KC Nihoshe Memorial Open Football Tournament was held on November 28 at the District Sports Council ground in Zunheboto with Major Prince Fernandez of the 11 Battalion Assam Rifles as the guest of honour.
The final match of the tounament saw an exciting contest between Dimapur Chaos and Peregrines Club Football. In the match, Dimapur Chaos emerged as the champions, securing a 2-0 victory. Honato (Jersey No. 9) and Nungsanh (Jersey No. 88) scored the winning goals for Dimapur Chaos.
In his speech, Major Fernandez expressed his gratitude for being part of such a prestigious event and extended his thanks to the Trojans Club for organizing the tournament in memory of Dr. KC Nihoshe.
“Today you’re playing here, but who knows, some of you might even make it to the FIFA World Cup or Manchester. Keep your eyes on these youngsters and give them your love and affection.” He stated
Meanwhile, Trojans Club president Hokato Yepthomi, also delivered a presentation, acknowledging the contributions of all involved in the tournament. The ceremony concluded with a benediction by assistant children’s pastor SBCZ Avilo Achumi,.
