Kohima Municipal Council directives on waste disposal

In pursuance of previous orders/advisories, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed all property owners and shopkeepers within its jurisdiction to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in and around their surroundings.

KMC has also directed them to maintain proper waste bin in front of their shops and to keep their immediate surroundings clean.

In a press release CEO KMC informed that in exercise of Section 141 of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, defaulters will be penalized Rs. 2000 for improper disposal of waste, Rs 1000 for littering/non-segregation of waste, Rs. 500 for absence of proper waste bin, and Rs. 5000 for unauthorized burning of waste.
