Advisor for taxes and civil administration works division (CAWD), Kudecho Khamo, disclosed that the state taxes department collected Rs. 1,356.91 crore in 2023-24.
Speaking at the inauguration of newly constructed flat-type staff quarters at Taxes Colony, Dimapur, Khamo said that the state taxes department was the highest revenue-generating body.
According to a DIPR report, the advisor also highlighted the importance of robust tax administration in strengthening Nagaland’s economy. Despite challenges in revenue generation, with internal collections accounting for only 12% of the estimated Rs. 18,034 crore revenue for 2024-25, Khamo urged department officials to work with greater dedication and professionalism.
Khamo also called upon the taxpayers to contribute actively to the state’s development. Further, he highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance tax administration through infrastructure development: newly inaugurated quarters and ongoing projects such as directorate office in Dimapur and facilities in Kohima, Phek, and Noklak.
