The first ever Senior National Arbiter seminar and exam organized by the Nagaland Chess Association on behalf of the All India Chess Federation (AICF)concluded on December 1 at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur.
Altogether, 27 trainees participated, including 17 from Nagaland, 1 from Jharkhand, 1 from Meghalaya and 8 from Assam. Among the trainees, 5 were females — 4 from Nagaland and 1 from Jharkhand. The results of the seminar and exam will be announced after one week.
The Seminar was conducted by the visiting Lecturer at Ferguson College, Pune, Nitin Shenvi. The chief guest of the event was K. M. Warjri, Chairman of Committee for Chess Development in the North East and Andaman and Nicober Islands, AICF, while Head of operations, AICF A. K. Verma, was the Guest of Honor.
Addressing the gathering, both resource persons, Warjri and Verma, expressed their satisfaction at the positive developments in chess in Nagaland. They noted that while chess activities in the state had previously been limited to local tournaments, they were pleased to see the new team of the Nagaland Chess Association organizing such important events.
They voiced optimism that this seminar would pave the way for more chess events in Nagaland in the near future and assured the NCA of their full support in organizing future chess activities.
Earlier, the valedictory function was led by Vice President, NCA Mohokiya Apon and invocation was pronounced by Associate Pastor, Angami Baptist Church, Northern Angami Colony, Walford, Dimapur Keyinglungbe Ilunglung. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Joint Secretary, NCA Mengise Haikam.
