
The 41st annual sports meet of Chiiziema Youth Organization (CYO) commenced on December 26 with Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome, president Kohima District Football Association as the chief guest.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Yhome shared his experience in football career where he completed 25 years by playing in various level as well as completing the AFC C lincense coach.
Yhome said that to be a good sportspersons, one require discipline, dedication, determination, sincerity and above all- God’s blessings.
He urged the youth to avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs, adding that one should also respect parents, elders, leaders, coaches.
He thanked the state government for promoting sports and at the same time, commended chief minister Neiphiu Rio and advisor to CM Abu Metha for taking sports forward across the state.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by CYO president Avituo Zatsu while CYO sports secretary Neisakholie Pienyii administered oath to the participating teams.
The programme was led by CYO vice president Vivolie Pienyii. Meanwhile, Kesoneilie Theiinuo, ex-chairman Thizama Village Council will grace the valedictory function on December 30.
