Hokato Hozheto Sema, a bronze medalist in the Men’s Shot Put F57 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, has been honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award for his exceptional contribution to Sports and Games in 2024.
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the award during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Friday. Hokato was one of 17 para-athletes among the 32 Arjuna awardees, with para-athletes dominating the list following their remarkable performance at the Paris Paralympics.
Congratulating Hokato, chief minister Neiphiu Rio, in a post on X, lauded his dedication and achievements, describing them as an inspiration for aspiring athletes.
Hokato’s journey is one of resilience, having lost his left leg in 2002 due to a landmine blast during an anti-terrorist operation in Jammu and Kashmir. His triumphs highlight his unwavering spirit and determination.
